 TeamKID is a recreation-based discipleship club for three-year-olds through kindergarten, children in grades 1-6, plus a wonderful youth department. There are now nearly 7,000 TeamKID registered clubs, representing every state in the United States. TeamKID clubs also are in at least 9 other countries.At the request of several state convention leaders and Southern Baptist churches, LifeWay Christian Resources (formerly the Baptist Sunday School Board) began researching an alternative club program to Awana clubs and programs. A team quickly began to gather information and attend Awana meetings. This research enabled the TeamKID staff to build on the strengths of the Awana program, while responding to areas of concern. There are four parts of a TeamKID meeting, with each one flowing into the next to keep the pace moving with non-stop energy: Warm-up is the opening activity that begins as soon as the first child arrives at TeamKID. Workout is 20 minutes of energized, interactive Bible study as children hear or experience a Bible story, learn a Bible verse, sing songs,and pray. Stretching is when three-year-olds through kindergarten or children in grades 1-6 apply what they have learned in Workout with fun activities from the Activity Books. Cool Down is the final 10 minutes of the meeting and includes refreshments and review of what they have learned. TeamKID is designed for children to do more than memorize Scripture. It helps children understand what the verses they memorize mean because all parts of the TeamKID meeting focus on one Bible message. The games, Bible story, memory verse, refreshments, and conclusion all contribute to help children understand and apply God's Word to their lives. In a world were GOD is continually being removed from the lives of our children and young people, TeamKID places GOD back into their lives and teaches them how to make Jesus the LORD of their life.
