Warren Rupp Observatory

Coming March 1, 2008!!

Do you love the night sky? Are you interested in science? Would you like to be able to help scientist determine the effects of light pollution? Then join us on March 1 at Warren Rupp Observatory as we present our annual "G.L.O.B.E. at Night" program to show you how you can help!

The program will start about 7:00 pm. You'll learn how to view a particular constellation, identify a certain amount of stars a report your findings to science. Conserving the Earth's dark skies are an important issue and by giving observations for various locations, such as small and large towns, urban and rural, science can help. It's fun and easy! G.L.O.B.E. makes a great family, school or scout project!

Door Prizes and Observing...

Everyone who attends programs at the Observatory will receive a ticket for our monthly door prize drawings. There's lots of cool things you might win just for being there!!

If weather permits, when it's dark the giant 31" telescope will be open for you to enjoy. In addition, our members have many other types of telescopes set up on the ground for you to view from and even a few that you can use yourself!

Restroom facilities are availabe as well as easy access to the dome and observing area. Who knows? If the weather is nice we might even have a cook out while you're there! Be sure to dress appropriately since most programs are held outdoors. It's a great place to bring the family for an evening of educational entertainment and we look forward to your visit!!

While we never charge a fee for attending our programs, we deeply appreciate donations. Your generosity helps to defray the expense of offering Star Lab Planetarium programs, helps us to provide educational handouts, and makes door prizes possible. Please look for our voluntary donation areas or ask a club member. Even the smallest amount helps!
