Good evening to you! I am "the astronomer" and I will be your guide on this tour... So come into the backyard with me...

Where beautiful sunsets rule! With better than twenty miles of farm land between myself and civilization, the view is absolutely outstanding! Of course, contending with the local wildlife can be a bit of a challenge... but we have learned to respect one another! (Except for perhaps the "grudge match" between the yard cat and the owl! What a hoot it is to watch this pair go at it!)

And, of course, I am sure you are quite curious to "see" into the backyard! Allow me....

Over the years I've seen a lot of cool things in the Backyard... I've enjoyed countless meteor showers, chased comets and asteroids, hunted galaxies, drooled over nebula, captured the majority of the Messier objects, followed sunspots, watched a total eclipse of the Moon through the telescope, witnessed a fantastic bolide that was seen across three states, and been fortunate enough to have seen two spectacular partial eclipses of the Sun!
