Dophin & Turtle are Friends Turtle and Dophin live in the Pacfic Ocean. They grew up together. Both being orphans they became best friends and as close as brothers. One day Turtle returned home to their under water cave, with some serious damage done to his shell! He had had a close call with a fishermans boat propellat. Dophin tended to his wounds the best he could & told him to rest. "Those shrimp boats are fishing in our feeding and mating waters. No place is safe" said Turtle. "What can we do ?" asked Dophin. "Nothing! They don't obey the endangered species laws or put TED's on their nets" said Turtle. "There must be something we can do" said Dophin. "Just avoid them is all we can do" said Turtle. "But they are every where" replied Dophin. "I know. It won't be easy!" said Turtle "But it's our only hope if we want to survive". The next day Turtle still did not feel well so Dophin told him to rest while he went out to get some food for the both of them. An hour later Dophin still had not returned & Turtle began to worry about his friend. So he went out to look for him. He swam to the feeding grounds & called out to Dophin. "I'm down here Turtle" came Dophins weak voice. "I'm trapped in a net & I need some air' he cried. "Hold on dear friend, I'm on my way"called Turtle. And he swam as fast as he could. The fishermans net was tangled tightly around Dophin and a boulder! Turtle pulled & pushed at the boulder but it would not move. He kept on pushing. His back hurt and his wounds began to bleed again. But still he pushed & pushed until finally the boulder move just a little. It was enough to loosen the net and free Dophin! They swam holding on to each other to the surface grasping for air! Slowly they floated back to the home they shared. Dophin had rope burns on his flesh from trying to pull free of the net. Turtle had shell damage from his encounter with the fishermans boat. It would take months for them to recover. But at least they had each other to look out for them.
