VICKY'S KITCHEN

FOOD PREPARATON

If you can find organic food it is always a better choice.

It's best to clean even organic produce thoroughly before using.
Into a large bowl or pan of water, add 1/4 to 1/2 cup red apple cider vinegar., soak produce for a few minutes. Thoroughty rinse and pat dry, preferably with a cotton dish towel..(paper towels are bleached with dioxin to give them the crisp white color.)

A lettuce spinner is a great gadget for drying and is rather inexpensive.

After soaking potatoes, fruit, vegies etc, I use inexpensive wash clothes to wash and wipe them well and pat dry with a towel.

Put vinegar and water into a spray bottle to clean counter tops.

|/~ DRY CARPET CLEANING ~|/
2 cups baking soda
1/2 cup corn starch
4 - 5 bay leaves crumbled
1 Tbs ground cloves

|/~ WET CARPET CLEANING ~|/
This works extremely well in the carpet machines.
1/3 cup powdered borax
1/4 cup rubbing alcohol
Mix the Borax or 20 Mule Team and the 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol  with the warm water. Pour into the reservoir of your machine and follow the directions for use. Use the vacuum part to suck up the excess water and dirt.

Then, when the carpet is nice and clean, follow with a rinse of 1/4 cup white vinegar in 4 gallons of fresh warm water, following the machine use directions.  The vinegar rinse will pick up any residual dirt and also remove any soap scum from the carpet. Since the sticky soap film is gone, the carpet will stay clean much longer.
(from Pennywise Newletter)

PERKING UP THE CARPET
If you have indents in your carpet from moving furniture, place a damp cloth over the carpet spot. Gently steam the towel with your steam iron on setting of woolen or medium high.

TO REDUCE WATER POLLUTION:

LAUNDRY:

Look for laundry products that are Phosphate free.

Use Hydrogen Peroxide for laundry items that need sanitizing , such as socks, underwear, towels if color fade is a problem.

Borax and washing soda can be used in place of detergent...it may not get things as sparkling clean but it will help the environment.

Use vinegar in the rinse to remove residue from laundry formulas.

that while showering for ten minutes your skin can absorb as much chlorine as in 20 gallons of water?
It's advised to use a shower-head filter to protect your skin and health.

Also advised to use filters for drinking water.such as Brita or Pur.

APARTMENT DWELLERS
wœæœææœæœæœæœææœw

Before you choose an apartment...look around the complex for problem features.
The least of your worries...the dumpster bin. Lots of people tossing trash in and the lid banging and the weekly pickup truck with hydraulics.

A major problem feature is parking...do the cars face your bedroom wall and window within 15 feet? The noise from car doors slamming, car alarm with door locking beeps, headlights flooding in and out, and rowdy late night arrivals, in all hours of the night can 'ROB" you of a good night sleep.

Living next to an airport, freeway, railroad tracks, major intersections, all-night establishments can keep you awake.

Features of the complex that can be problematic are the pool, an entry door to your hallway that slams shut all hours, the laundry room where tennents dry their tennis shoes at any hour,
etc. can keep you from resting well.

The Major hazard: the utility arrangements. I've discovered that most of those "desireable" end apartments, usually the two bedroom on the ground floor with nice patio, have on the end wall the entire circuitry and meters for a whole unit section of apartments..and the air conditioners all in a row.
What that means is, who ever gets that bedroom is being penetrated by a huge field of EMFs and the constant cycling of air conditioning units during the warmer seasons.

This is the worst room for a child or infant.
They are still developing and this can be very disturbing to them.

These end rooms are difficult to sleep in..because EMFs can create Irritablitliy and restlessness - a sleepless or fretful night for you..

Even on the second or third floor these main cables run down the outside walls from the roof or main line feed in from the utility poles.

Sleep is your healing time..Protect it.

Another tip: High Rise Apartments:
I've read reports by healh experts saying that by the level of the 8th floor, the buiding becomes "sick". Really sick. You are so far removed from earth energy and exposed to all the unnatural compounds in the building materials, water and drain pipes and electrical wiring running through the walls that it creates an unnatural living zone.

If you open up a balcony door or window on even the 10th floor you will get the full collection of air pollution from traffic and industry....

For those of you in earthquake zones..don't live in a basement apartment. if available, choose a two story building and if necessary, choose the thrid floor if that's the top floor. Stay close to the ground for health

Even a miniscule view is worth something..so try to find an apartment that has something pleasing to look at..
