nov 15 1998 The pensions of the UAW PIONEERS from the thirties and forties, and retirees prior to October 1987 have a huge wage inequity in comparison to present and future retirees. They have fallen behind! An increase in pension for those who receive the least amount per month is in order for the 1999 contract negotiations. Any increases that are bargained should be given to ALL RETIRED GM  hourly an across-the board RAISE. The increases should be a PERMANENT part of their pensions. These brothers and sisters need a raise, and NOT contingent upon any cost-of-living ratio. Flint sitdowners are getting less than $10,000 dollars a year to live on!! The pre-October 1987  retirees are watchin' and are unhappy with the last contract, as far as their pensions are concerned. Please make the recomendations of the Region 1-C Retirees Council a reality.        PLEASE STAND UP FOR OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF THE PAST! THANK YOU,UAW! SOLIDARITY FOREVER!

shopdate april 8 1999 GM, KEEP FLINT WORKING! The proud UAW workers in the factories are hard-workin'! QUALITY is Number One The UAW is Number One GM is Number One and DELPHI is Number One! We are great together! Oh, by the way, Please PAINT DELPHI ON THE WATER TOWERS! IT IS FREE ADVERTISING! The factory and community will look better! It will attract new business!                                               For an audio lookback at Flint history circa 1998 CLICK HERE ! or Visit LOCAL 651, A GREAT LOCAL! I BELIEVE IN THE GREAT UAW BORN IN FLINT FEBRUARY 11 1937! HOW MANY OF US HAVE RELATIVES THAT HAVE BEEN MEMBERS OVER THE YEARS? ALL OF US NEED TO THINK ABOUT THE PAST GENERATIONS OF OUR FAMILIES THAT HAVE WORKED HERE. THEY walked the picket lines, THEY FOUGHT for the wages and benefits we now have by default. Now, our membership is falling. The spinoff is upon us! Change is in the air. Our generation of workers must stand-up for our relatives who grew our local into the great one it is; and stood in solidarity for their rights as union members long before we were born! Our generation must get involved and help the GREAT UAW!!! I want to drive by this factory when I'm 80 years old and see people coming out of it's doors, just as I did as a young boy of 7. I want to see 651's halls busy as a beehive just like the old days. Our generation of workers CAN make this happen. NOW is the time! We must get involved for our generations past, for present and future 651 retirees for the civil rights movement that is all of ours for Martin Luther King for the UAW that embraced him for the GREAT FLINT SITDOWNERS in the plants that could have been killed and the women and children who surrounded the plants to protect them for the history that is OURS! IN FLINT! NO ONE CAN TAKE THAT AWAY FROM US NO ONE!! IT IS OURS!! IT IS WRITTEN ABOUT IN EVERY LABOR TEXTBOOK IT CHANGED THE WORLD!!! THE GREAT SITDOWN STRIKE!! IT IS OUR HISTORY! OUR LEGACY! THE BIRTH OF THE UAW THE UNION THAT BROUGHT DIGNITY AND RESPECT TO WORKERS EVERYWHERE FOR WALTER REUTHER. WE OWE HIM I OWE HIM. WE ARE THE FUTURE 651 RETIREES. GET INVOLVED WITH OUR UNION. RUN FOR OFFICE. MAKE A DIFFERENCE! LET'S MAKE OUR RELATIVES AND RETIREES OF THE PAST PROUD OF US! I AM GOING TO TRY! I OWE THEM and LOCAL 651!   THANK YOU! (I BET YOU KNEW I WAS GOING TO SAY THAT!) SOLIDARITY FOREVER!    GM The workers in this town are educated and hard workin!!  I and OTHER PROUD UAW MEMBERS want to work here in Flint!  GM, I believe firmly in the concept that NOTHING is impossible! WE, the workers  here in Genesee County, HAVE what it takes to get the job done! Flint Michigan is a great town!! With the blessing of the array of colleges, we have retrained and are ready for the future! WE want to build the components, and put them into the autos WE build!  I and other workers still can't believe you want to spin us off! To us it feels like a mother casting out one of it's children.  Keep Buick City open put a product in there! WE WANT TO WORK!! GM, I and other UAW members have PROUDLY built YOU into NUMBER ONE! MY UAW, the union that CHANGED THE WORLD, was born in Flint Michigan! For generations we have worked for you. We want to retire one day from the factories we drove to EVERYDAY. If you are reading this, how about taking a drive through Flint. Look at the factories. I mean REALLY LOOK at them! They create a financial force that flows through the area. Think about it! As you drive past the shops, look at the businesses that have sprung up throughout the area! Our paychecks have helped to GROW THE AREA. The schools that our children attend and the colleges they apply to these are what a good-paying job can create in an area. They create hope! They create the future! GM, you cannot assign a dollar value to this! Let's talk about retirement. We would like to retire from the place we drove to everyday! And after retirement, proudly point out when driving by the factory that we worked at, that "I worked there for 30 years and my effort made a difference!". I still remember popping the hood on a car, and looking at the parts that were created at AC SPARK PLUG parts that I might have made! It was a satisfying feeling! GM, WE HAVE PRIDE IN WHAT WE BUILD HERE IN FLINT!! IT'S  A GREAT FEELING TO KNOW THAT WHEN A GM VEHICLE DRIVES BY YOU MADE IT! GM, Stay in Flint. Let's go into the next milleneum together! WE CAN do the JOB in genesee county If the spinoff is inevitable, we at Delphi still want to build quality parts and components for you! Keep us as your supplier of choice. The proud UAW workers here can do the job!!! GM, if you are reading this, please give this some thought. Turn away momentarily from your computer screen, close your eyes, and try to visualize the changes you are making to our lives, hourly and salaried workers both. For almost 100 years we have been together, here in Flint, Michigan. Generations of us came from everywhere to toil in your factories. Now, we are spun-off.  Here, at Delphi, the majority of the products we create are purchased by you.  The transition to independence because of the spinoff still depends on your work still coming to the site.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY UAW!! Feb 11 1937 born in Flint, Michigan. Don't forget to wear your white shirt! Feb. 14 1999 Our generation of workers had it too easy. We hired in the shop and inherited all the wages and benefits that our older coworkers fought for through the previous contracts! We take too much for granted. It is up to us to stand-up for the UAW Born in our city FLINT! The time is now! Get involved with your local! Run for office. One person can make a difference! I believe that! Brothers and sisters, count how many times we say "I can't". Try saying "I can"! We are being spun-off now. Now is the time to help each other! Trust in the UAW in the National 1999 negotiations to look out for our interests at the bargaining table. Every time you open up your paycheck, look at what the UAW has won for us over the years! These things just didn't happen! People like you and me had to negotiate and sometimes fight for these wages and benefits! I encourage all members to read up on the life of Walter Reuther a man of vision and courage! The man was unique. He gave the autoworkers dignity and respect at the bargaining table. He was a member of the NAACP. He marched with Martin Luther King in Washington in the sixties. He stood up for what he believed in! The man didn't smoke or drink, and I read that when he attended union conventions he would squeeze his own orange juice in the hotel room so as to save money, union money. He would send out his suits to be dry-cleaned and pay for it out of his own pocket to save union money. Thanks to him, and other UAW greats we now have Seniority, 30 and Out, COLA, health care, dental care, vision care, vacation and holiday pay, premium pay for overtime etc. But more importantly, we are now treated with dignity and respect! We have a voice! And, The Flint Sitdowners and the women and children that helped protect them, man what courage you exhibited back in the thirties! We owe you everything for what you did back then! This town, Flint Michigan, is part of labor history. We changed the world! The UAW was born here. Our generation of UAW workers has a noble past, with living legends walking around town! Always Thank them for what they did for us. Now, it is up to us stand united for the UAW! GET UP, GET WITH IT GET INVOLVED! Thank You!
