THE 176 ARMORED ARTILLERY KOREAN WAR 1952-54


I have a lot of pictures so I had a hard time figuring how to lay them out, maybe you will remember some of the guys, If any one has more I will include them.

ROSTER of the GUYS I HAVE FOUND

Alan Burl Caudle--First guy I found on the net,he was with the 176 just
before I got there he was with a Korean unit down the road from us that was part of the 176

Ernie Piper--was the radio repairman and remembers the halftrack OLD FUSS and FART that was on the OP, it was later lost up there

Sgt Norm Swisher --I knew he was a ham operater before Korea and when I got home and became a ham I tryed to find Norm for 45 yrs, one day Ernie said the guy that replaced him showed up on the net, it was Norm

Bill Didycz--was in A bat same time I was in HQ. I found Bill on the Pittsburgh Korean War Memorial,I called him and found we worked for the same company and had worked on the same projects side by side but did not know we had been in the 176 AFA

Rheinhardt Freitag-- have many pic's of Freitag, he was first guy I met in the unit when I got to Korea, he does not have a computer, but he wrote me a long letter and sent a pic just in case I thought he didn't remember me.

Lt Rich Gilliant-- was a Como Officer with the 176 HQ Bat. He was there from Nov 52 till Aug 53 he knows a lot of names

Jack Spinner--was in A Bat and remembers a lot of what happened

Ralph Seefeldt found him in GreenBay WI called him and he is doing fine. He was my SGT

Everett Leppert just found him, was with Servce Bat Oct 51 till Oct 52

Paul Halliday drove an ammo truck was with Service Bat June 52 till Aug 53

Al Muller-- lived in Patterson, NJ

Bob Kastle-- lived in Chicago or Detriot

Joe Podge-- lived out west, worked on a ranch



Sam ???-- was a black fellow from Chicago

??? Summers-- was very young, was from Chicago

These are the pictures I have of the Korean war. Someone asked why did you take them??---- I really don't know why I took them. I know one thing I'm glad I did.

On the right side of the picture the red line is the coast line the circle is the Capitol Hill area where we were at.

This is what the guns looked like.

This was our fire Direction Control Bunker around Mar--53 You see the radio half track parked below the bunker
