Juneau Tides

These JUNEAU ALASKA PICTURES were taken in the same place, with the same camera at the same angle. The only changes are date, time, weather and tide.

The pictures were captured from "The Channel Channel". In Juneau, GCI cable channel 23 features a full time camera located at Salmon Creek. It is pointed northwest across the channel toward the Juneau Airport and Auke Mt.

Juneau tides are extreme, with almost 20 feet of variation.

A marked and navigable channel at high tide becomes mud and puddles at low tide.

This northern end of the Gastineau Channel separates the Juneau mainland from the north end of Douglas Island.

Much of this area is, CLASSIFIED AS
WETLANDS, providing habitat for non-humanity.

All of these pictures were captured in late spring. The scene changes with time of year, as with tides, weather and time of day.

This was my first attempt at web page building, and your comments are appreciated.
