I added this section on a whim, after the announcement of the 2006 mini-reunion. I'm keeping it here...well, just because. I ike to think that there's always something Extreme-related coming down the pike. (And for some unknown reason, the big honkin' fugly question mark speaks to me...)

And, hey! As of late November 2007, the mutha of all Extreme-related somethings is on its way...

"Extreme Rejoin Forces for New Album and Tour"

That was the subject line on an e-mail dated November 26 2007. You might say that it caught my attention.

"EXTREME are set to return in the spring of 2008 with their first album of all new material in 13 years. The band features original members NUNO BETTENCOURT (guitar), GARY CHERONE (vocals) and PAT BADGER (bass) along with new drummer KEVIN FIGUEIREDO."

(I'd like to take this moment to apologize in advance to Figg for the no doubt countless number of times I'm bound to misspell his name over the next year.)

The e-mail goes on to refresh everyone's memory about Extreme's history, update everyone on its members more recent projects (sadly, no mention of Pat's alpaca farm, which I think is uber-nifty), then quotes Nuno about why the band has decided to reunite.

The best quote of all? "We realized, not only are the people starved for rock and roll...So are we. Let's eat."

I love that boy something stupid. :-)

Do I even have to hint that I'm planning to hit a show or 6 during the tour???

Belly up to the table, kiddies. Willie's hungry!

Slip Kid

I'm determined that I will make it to a Slip Kid show one of these days.

Slip Kid is a Who-tribute project that Gary does with his brother, Markus, and a couple of other musicians occasionally. From what I can tell, they play smallish clubs in the Boston area.

When they started, I figured it was a good way for Gary to prepare for the Amazing Journey shows he did with Mike Portnoy, Paul Gilbert and Billy Sheehan. The guys must have enjoyed it, because they're still doing shows, over year later. (There's a show in Boston on December 23, 2007, in fact. But there's no way I'm traveling so close to Christmas. Mom's very understanding, but we're talking Christmas, for Pete's sake.)
